Want a job at Westfield Stratford City shopping centre? Here’s our guide to getting employed.
Westfield Stratford City shopping centre in east London is huge, and opened in September 2011.
It’s estimated that the mall’s 300 stores, restaurants and attractions will employ up to 8,500 people, and Westfield say that at least 2,000 of these jobs will be filled by the local unemployed. Westfield also state that the centre will provide 18,000 permanent jobs when it is fully up and running.
For example, the John Lewis 240,000 sq ft department store will provide around 950 jobs. John Lewis have agreed that 250 jobs will go to long-term unemployed local residents and the remaining 700 jobs will be given to local residents where possible.
Other retail employers at Westfield Stratford are: Boots, Forever 21, Next, Topshop and Waitrose.
How to get a job at Westfield Stratford City shopping centre?
1) If you’ve got the appropriate qualifications and experience, then applying is a good start! Take a look at our list of shops and stores at Westfield Stratford and begin to contact the stores’ recruitment departments when you see that vacancies are available.
Westfield says that most of the retailers began recruiting in earnest in Summer 2011.
Many of the larger stores have now finished their first major recruitment drives for the time being. For example, John Lewis started recruiting in March 2011. Find out more at their website. However, smaller shops may still be recruiting.
It’s also important to note that Westfield Stratford City mall only recruits for people to work on running the mall – they usually do not organise recruitment for the shops inside the shopping centre. If you want to work directly for Westfield, then see their website.
If you want a job at a shop inside Westfield Stratford, then you have to contact the retailers directly. Be warned: you have competition. It’s been reported that John Lewis have had 12,000 applications for the 800 roles on offer, Waitrose received 1,400 applications for 150 jobs at Westfield Stratford City.
2) Register your interest in Westfield Stratford City at your local JobCentre Plus office. Their website allows you to search for retailing jobs in Stratford London. See the Jobseekers.direct.gov.uk website.
3) Living locally would help too – Westfield are committed to helping the local area around their Stratford shopping centre.
Newham, Waltham Forest, Tower Hamlets and Hackney residents may benefit from Westfield Stratford’s agreement to employ 2,000 of the local unemployed. Find out where to apply at the Westfield website.
4) Get the right training
Appropriate training will enhance your chances of getting a job at Westfield Stratford. When the site opens it will contain a Retail Academy. It will provide training for those seeking a career in retail. Seetec will manage the Academy.
5) Be persistent! And use the power of the web…
News about vacancies at Westfield Stratford City will be found at store websites, job websites, in local papers and many other places. Keep your eyes open. Websites that are advertising jobs at Westfield Stratford city, include: Retail Choice and Jobsite.
We wish you the best of luck in your job hunt.

How do you actually go about applying for an in-store role if the shopping centre hasn’t opened yet? I’ve been through the list of stores and went onto their websites and most of them have no information about jobs in their new store in Westfield.
Hi Sam… then you should try looking in places where the shops will advertise their vacancies. I’ve just looked and the Retail Choice website, linked to above, has 9 Westfield Stratford vacancies. However do bear in mind that Westfield advise that recruitment won’t start properly til the Summer. Thanks for visiting.

could u tell me how can i get job plz
What really annoys me is when people who already have jobs want to leave their job to work in westfields and take opportunities from those who are unemployed.
I’ve lived in newham all my life and I’ve been looking for a part time job for over a year now. I think westfield should only employ those that live locally. The surrounding boroughs are deprived enough as it is.
It makes it even more difficult getting a job with no experience but when local opportunities do arise people with jobs already want to flock over. It’s not fair , Westfield should really consider giving back to the community as for the past 2 years now my area has been disturbed due to the building. Make employability only able to those who life in the surronding boroughs.
I know Lakeside shopping centre does that if you don’t live locally they don’t employ you.
I’m just being honest
This is for residents of Newham residents
http://www.newhamworkplace.co.uk/
they will help you get a job in Westfield
Other Boroughs have something similar
Hi anon – if there was any justice somebody as eloquent as you would be at the top of the list for employers. Thanks for your very thoughtful comment.

Hi Fatima,
I’ve not seen Boots advertising their Westfield Stratford jobs yet. A good place to find out more is at the official Boots job website: http://www.boots.jobs/stores/. Thanks for visiting.
Hi Natalie and Kursat. Re: Vue Cinema recruitment. When they do advertise, jobs should be mentioned here: http://careers.myvue.com/Home/Current-vacancies. Also: http://www.reed.co.uk/ often have Vue Cinema vacancies.
Hi Mukitur, for Marks and Spencer job, see their website: http://corporate.marksandspencer.com/mscareers/apply_now
Im looking for any job in sales at westfield stratford, could anyone give me a phone numberor send me a link for river island or john lewis pleasee :)
Hi Safoa, the John Lewis link is at the top of the page. Thanks for commenting.
I have been trying to send my cv to Jd sports but it keeps failing to deliver. The email address I have is Stratford.westfieldjobs@jdplc.com. Please can you confirm if this is the correct email address? If it is not, please can you confirm the correct address.
Thanks
i hae an interview with next the woman said stratford but i thought the store was not open yet can you please let me know which store i am suppose to go to
Hi Russell… you’d have to contact Next directly for such specific job interview information. Thanks for visiting.
Hi Keely. Re: JD sports cvs. I don’t know whether that email is correct. The phone number of JD Sports at Westfield London is: Phone: 020 8743 4391 – maybe they could point you in the right direction? Good luck!
Again about JD I called them up with the number on this page and got through to westfield white city…..Not stratford, does anyone know how I can contact the new westfield and regards to giving them my CV ?
Hi Louanne, it clearly says above that the number is for Westfield London JD, not Westfield Stratford. If you want a job at the stores within Westfield Stratford then you should be looking at job websites – and following the tips in the page, above. Westfield are not recruiting for the shops within the centre. Westfield say: “you will need to apply directly to [the] retailers.” If you want to work for Westfield directly, see their jobs website: http://www.westfieldcareers.com/
Thanks for visiting.

thanks for your time
Hi Sadia, westfieldcareers.com is for people wanting to work for the Westfield Company. If you want to work for the shops within the Westfield malls, Westfield say: “you will need to apply directly to [the] retailers.” Thanks for visiting.
Hi there I got a reply for M&S that they have vacancies in westfield store but when I go on there website theres nothin coming up can u plz tell me y
HI,
I have seen vacancies on M&S Stratford but when I tried to apply using their web nothing is coming up
can you pls tell me why?
Hi Farooq and MD, the Marks and Spencer job website is at: marksandspencerstratfordcity.co.uk
it is advertising that there will be roles, but the details have not been released yet. Keep checking back… it must be soon!
Hi I already work for River Island in North Finchley however because I live in Hackney I would prefer to get a transfer to a closer store as a lot of my wages go on travel to get to work. If you can guide me as to where I can contact to get a transfer to westfield stratford River Island then please let me know.
Kind regards.
Test: reply to Tez
Hi Tez, you should contact the HR (human resources) or personnel department at River Island. Your manager at River Island should be able to give you the telephone number. Explain your situation to them – and they should be able to advise. Thanks for visting MallSecrets.co.uk.
Hi there!
Could you please let me know how it’s possible that all my friends are getting contacted by the westfield stores to come in for interview? Everyday i sit on the compuet for atleast 3hours, searching and completing questions, attachin my CV, emailing people, and get nothing!
I really want to get a job at WESTFIELD!!! i can not let this oppurtunity pass!! i live right near to the center and can’t ber to go in for the opening to see so many people working and i tried my hardest every single day! WHY DON’T I HEAR ANYTHING? I REALLY NEED A JOB :'(

this is nonsense i went through the store listings and applied to nearly every store via email as none advertised westfield jibs on there websites half never replied and john lewis and waitrose said theyve already advertised and are due to start shortlisting and there the biggest stores in the shoppin centre m&s said they are now recruiting but it says nothing on there website!!!!!!!!!!!! crap mall secrets have only listed a few stores surely there are more than that u need to help us out some more!
Hi Farooq – you have to keep checking. Getting a job is not easy.
Hi Sky: The list of shops we have is up-to-date at time of publishing. Westfield are still negotiating with retailers – the full list has not been released yet. Getting a job is hard – there’s a lot of competition for these roles… and the shops know it, so they can pick and choose who they employ. The people who don’t give up will get the jobs.
Thanks for visiting.
Is the recruitment process still ongoing?
Hi Chris – yes many shops still need staff.

It is extremely frustrating trying to apply for jobs at stores that haven’t even opened yet.
I can find barely any info about job vacancies for the stores that interest me (fashion) and the job sites seem to prefer advertising managerial positions as opposed to sales assistant jobs.
I have found email adds for some stores HR departments but H&M, River Island, New Look have nothing. Can anyone provide me with an email add for them or even better a link to apply for a position?
Thanks very much.

Hi guys,
I’m wanting to apply for a position at Topshop when it opens in Westfield, Stratford. Anyone know any contacts or a way of doing so??
Thanks! X
Hi Nena. Topshop were advertising their Westfield Stratford jobs on their website about 2 months ago. When opening a new store they tend to display the jobs available on their website a few months before opening. Website: arcadia.peoplebank.com/pb3/corporate/Arcadia/tstm/retail.html
So you may be a little late… however you could still ask for advice from Topshop, on their website? Or maybe even speak to someone at Topshop in Westfield London (Shepherd’s bush)?
Miss Sixty Women’s Fashion still recruiting for supervisors? Check their website: sixty.net/job.php

Why dont you instead of putting stupid tips and secrets of ‘how’ to get recruited at the shopping centre and tell us the actual name of the recruitment agency so we can apply. I think its absolute joke all this messing around phoning shops what happened to going in store and giving in CV’s no wonder why there are so many unemplyed people when you make it so f**king difficult to apply for work.
Hi Kay,
we agree with you. We say above that:
“If you want a job at a shop inside Westfield Stratford, then you have to contact the retailers directly.” – which can mean visiting them in store.
Retailers like Topman like you to visit them in store. They say: “Our stores are responsible for recruiting all of their store teams directly, with the exception of new store openings. If you are interested in working in one of our current stores you should contact the Store Manager directly who can advise you of current opportunities that are available.”
Hi, i wana apply for sales assistant in shops like forever 21, h&m, or zara or any fashion shops ladieswear, but its difficult, i put lot of cv in westfield n nothing and apply only i dunno its same no answer, i mean i have 3 years experience in retail, i was sale assistant, n manager n now supervisor, but i just wana change for a new shop.
Its hard for me to find, its maybe because im french, think is more easy for you british people with a perfect english.
I dunno what to do, or should i modify my cv and take off from france, recruiters might not like french cos we take time to understand.
I dunno really, so if someone can help and tell me what i can do, it can be really good, thank you very much.
Ines

Sorry Iam Not agree, I went directly to all the fashion shops and they all said, sorry you have to apply online, we don’t take any cv in the store.
I can give you the list of the shops you told me that
– Top Shop
– Bershka
– Zara
– Next
– New Look
– Dune
– Kurt Geiger
– John Lewis
– Guess
– Forever 21
-Republic
– River Island
– Pull and Bear
And still long list no point to continu!!!!!!
Only one took my cv were h&m.
Its upsetting going with 100 cv and going back home with your 100 cv.
Should i become british to work there???
[edited for unsubstantiated claims]
I don’t know its really strange
Hi Ines, thanks for your comment… it’s great feedback for the shops.
Only the shops that you contacted can give you reasons why they did not accept your CV.
As you know times are very tough for job hunters, we applaud your persistence and wish you good luck.
yeah thank you.
