Update: Gymbox have confirmed that they will open a gym at Westfield Stratford later in 2014. Check back at this page for more information.
Currently there’s no gym at Westfield Stratford, but the Westfield Stratford City website has a page for Gymbox – it says the fitness centre will be located on the third floor.
The Body Shop at Gymbox
Here at MallSecrets.co.uk we’ve been asked many times about gym and fitness facilities at Westfield Stratford City.
Some of these questions were prompted by the Sun website. In September 2011, the Sun reported that Channel 4 TV will be setting a “living soap” called The Body Shop at Gymbox in the Westfield Stratford City shopping centre, East London. But Gymbox’s official Facebook page has corrected the Sun, saying: “The series is actually on Gymbox Westfield (Shepherds Bush not Stratford)”.

Planned fitness centres and gyms near Westfield Stratford City
Tesco are building a “village” to the south of the Olympic site – and the planning application does mention that they’ll build a new gym / fitness centre. Tesco want their Bromley-By-Bow village to be open in time for the Olympics, 2012. The gym should be within walking distance – on land south of Otis Street and Three Mills Lane, east of the A12 and North of the Railway Line, E3.
“After the 2012 Games, the Olympic Park will be renamed the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park with the development of the site taking place over the next 25 years. From 2013 onwards, parts of the Park and the five permanent 2012 Games sporting venues will begin to reopen alongside the construction of up to 11,000 new homes and community facilities”
Or in other words – new sporting facilities may be open to the public after the Olympics has finished.
